Hi Barb,
Thank you for your enquiry. There is support available, however what support depends on whether your partner is under or over 65 years of age.
This support might be provided in home, out of home or a planned activity group depending on what is available in your area.
If your partner is under 65 we suggest calling the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) helpline. Even if it hasn't commenced in your area, calling their helpline is the starting point.
https://www.ndis.gov.au/index.html
Ph: 1800 800 110
If your partner is over 65 we suggest getting in touch with My Aged Care.
https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/
Ph: 1800 200 422
Either of these organisations would then be able to point you in the right direction. A referral for rehabilitation is also an option, however this is unlikely to be a full day program. You could get your GP to arrange an appropriate rehab referral or call us to discuss further on StrokeLine on 1800 787 653 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
Best wishes,
Simone (Occupational therapist for StrokeLine)
