Can I have aspro clear instead of aspirin

I was given spren 100 aspirin from the hospital but I can not swallow tablets. One chemist told me I can just crush the asprin and another chemist told me I cant but I was told I could just have aspro clear ? I have been half the tablet (cos they are 300mg) and then break a tiny bit of the side, thats what the chemist told me to do.... So my question is, is that good enough I can i safely crush the spren 100 ? sorry there was no topic for medication...
