Sheryl, So Sorry to hear of your current experiences.
I can see how you may wish to link in with other like-minded people who may be going through what you are experiencing. It must be difficult for you.
It would be good to clarify with your Neurologist as to the reasons why they are wanting you to see a Neuropsychiatrist if you are unsure.
Neuropsychiatrists work with patients to diagnose, treat, and prevent mental illness by understanding how it affects the brain and the reason for certain behaviours and responses.
You can find a Neuropsychiatrist close to your location -here
Neuropsychologists are also very helpful with acquired brain injury and stroke.
A Neuropsychologist may work with you if you are having trouble with memory, thinking or behavioural problems. They often complete an assessment and diagnosis, provide intervention for factors affecting one’s cognition (Thinking and perception) and provide psychological therapy and behaviour support.
You can find a Neuropsychologist here (speciality is Neuropsychology)
Synapse is an amazing brain injury organisation and has a wealth of information and support available. They may also be able to assist you to find a suitable Neuropsychiatrist or Neuropsychologist here, and they offer support groups as well.
Help is available so please reach out.
