Hi Samantha
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear the news of your husband’s stroke and ongoing episodes without any clear clarification of what may be causing these
It must be understandably alarming for both of you, BUT It is important, to continue to monitor and report these episodes to his GP and or specialist and set up a clear action plan, with their guidance, as to what to do when they happen. Calling an ambulance may be a consideration to discuss with them. Safety is also a huge priority that needs to be discussed, especially as you mention that the episodes have happened whilst driving. Please mention this to his GP.
Although frustrating it is important to rule out anything medical before considering further investigation into the possibility of “Could these be panic attacks?”
A panic attack is a brief episode of intense anxiety, which causes the physical sensations such as racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, dizziness, trembling and muscle tension. Panic attacks can occur frequently and unexpectedly and are often not related to any external threat. You can read about these further HERE and I’d encourage you to have the conversation with your GP about exploring this as another possible option to consider.
Best of Luck
Regards Strokeline
Thank you.
so far doctors and specialists haven’t been able to work out what it is.
After his stroke he had complications with swelling on the brain causing seizures etc. this has all been ruled out though. It’s still a mystery. We will continue to speak with the gp etc.
