How do I get a formal diagnosis of foreign accent syndrome?

When I got my speech back 18 months ago I spoke with a thick Italian accent .It changes from Italian to German to French to Eastern European but has never returned to my original speaking voice which is Australian .I was born here in Australia as were my parents and my heritage is Scottish .I also have Apraxia since the accent .

Hi Heather,

Neurologists typically diagnose foreign accent syndrome however often request input from other health professionals including speech pathologists, psychologists and neuropsychologists. Have you seen any one of these professionals?
