Hi Kim,
I hope the EnableMe community can share some ideas. I know from our previous conversations that Elio's health has deteriorated since his stroke and that he's in a limbo land waiting for NDIS to be made available in his area.
Keep talking to his Physiotherapist, Speech Pathologist and Social Worker about local services and supports. Keep talking to us on StrokeLine, and most importantly, keep taking your carer respite.
You might want to speak to his GP about a planned re-admission to hospital to address the management of his swallowing difficulties. Progress in the community has been limited, and I wonder whether a stay in the Transition Care Program (TCP) would be of benefit - give us a call on StrokeLine if you'd like to discuss further.
If you ever feel like his swallowing ability and/or secretion management has notably deteriorated, don't hesitate to call 000 or take him to your nearest emergency department.
If you need emergency carer respite, please call Carers Victoria on 1800 052 222.
Best wishes,
Alana - Strokeline
