Hi Yvonne,
We are so sorry to hear of your stroke and the ongoing head throbbing you experience. Everyone’s experience is unique so it’s very difficult for us to say how long this will last. There may be other stroke survivors or family members on EnableMe who may share their experiences with you.
Here are some suggestions from the StrokeLine team in the meantime:
It’s great you have already spoken with your doctor - this would have been our first suggestion. Continue to keep him/her updated with how you are feeling and how this progresses. It would also be good to continue checking in with your doctor to make sure nothing else is contributing to how you are feeling.
It’s great that you have already started keeping tab of potential triggers (noise and feeling upset) – continue with this and also keep track of what seems to help and ease the discomfort.
Please call 000 if the throbbing worsens, becomes more abrupt or sudden as these can be a sign of stroke.
You are also more than welcome to call us on StrokeLine (1800 787 653) if you would like to chat further. We really hope things settle down for you soon Yvonne.
Best Wishes and let us know how you get on,
Lisa (StrokeLine)
Hi Yvonne,
Here are some comments from the Facebook community:
Kimberlee: Hi, I had a 6 and a 1/2 cm bleed in my left side occipital horn region in February. That whole area and surrounded still most days feels like it’s on fire but the pain and throbbing is slowly settling down. But overly loud noise sets it off as well. I’m sorry you feel like this. Sending love.x
Catherine: I hate to say it but I’m over 6 years on and I get awful headaches most days.
