Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us on StrokeLine.
It is generally safe to fly after a stroke as long as your husband is medically stable. You can usually talk to your GP or neurologist to work out when will be a good time for you to go on holidays. For some stroke survivors it will be okay to start flying after a couple of weeks and for others, it may take longer depending on your individual circumstances.
If you are still waiting on an appointment with the neurologist at the hospital, you have a couple of options. Make an appointment to see the GP and have the medical tests and appointments followed up. You can also call the hospital directly and speak to the nurse in charge of the ward your husband stayed in or the specialist outpatient stroke clinic. They will be able to check if an appointment is in the pipeline for your husband.
I have also included some information here on travel and holidays after stroke.
Please also feel free to reach out to us on StrokeLine on 1800 787 653 if you would like to speak to a health professional.
