I am at a loss in what to do with my dad, he suffers from seizures due to his stroke his medication does not seem to be working the side effects are not helping his mobility! He takes divalproex and lamotrigine.

I am sorry to hear of your dad's stroke and the seizures that he experiences as a result of the stroke. Unfortunately, stroke survivors are at increased risk of developing seizures, particularly if the stroke is severe or a bleed.

Your dad’s neurology team will be able to advise you on the most appropriate medication for him and may even complete a medication review. They will be able to assist with an ongoing management plan for him, including managing the side effects of medications. I suggest getting in contact with his neurologist, or getting a referral to a neurologist via his GP.
