Hi Janette,
I am sorry to hear of the two strokes you have had recently, and that fact that you are feeling unwell at the moment.
After a stroke you are at greater risk of another stroke or TIA. Almost everyone who has had an ischaemic stroke or a TIA will most likely need blood thinning medication such as aspirin. The aspirin can certainly assist with reducing the risk of a future stroke or TIA but if you are concerned about your ongoing symptoms, it would be advisable to again seek immediate medical follow up.
It is good that you attended the hospital and underwent the CT scan and blood tests. CT scans are used to take detailed pictures of your brain and this is generally a test that is conducted after a suspected TIA. If you are concerned that the scans did not look at a specific area, it would be helpful to discuss this with your Doctor at your visit tomorrow.
The symptoms of a TIA or Stroke (the FAST method is an easy way to remember the signs of a stroke or TIA). These are:
Face: Has your face drooped or any changes to one side of your face
Arms Can you lift both of your arms
Speech Is your speech slurred or can you understand what someone is saying to you
Time: Time is critical
There can also be other signs and symptoms of a TIA or stroke including vision changes, dizziness, loss of balance, difficulty swallowing, nausea and numbness or weakness in one or both sides.
If you are concerned about the symptoms you currently have, or if the symptoms are worsening, I would be recommending that you seek urgent medical advice.
I hope that you receive further information from the doctor's visit tomorrow about the results from today's tests.
kind regards
Siobhan (StrokeLine)
