I had a left parieto-temporal haemorrhagic stroke in July, and also having ongoing treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. My rheumatologist has referred me for 2 steroid injections in my shoulder. Should I be concerned about any possible effects from the steroids on my stroke recovery ?

Our pain after stroke fact sheet does state that steroid injections are sometime used for shoulder pain.

We do recommend that you get personalised medical advice; talk to your rheumatologist to make sure they are aware of your medical history and all other medications you are currently taking. If you still have concerns, get in touch with your neurologist and discuss the injections with them.
