For about three months post stroke I wore a kind of brace called a Navigator. That was fitted by Orthotics department as part of Outpatient rehab. Reason being a dropped foot on my damaged left side. I was anxious about falling with the foot that seemed to stick to the floor. Positive results, after the three months foot no longer dropped.Jenny
I had a stroke 4 years ago and have had problems walking. I had the same problems you have and I wear an ankle brace to stop foot drop'a Richie Brace, fitted by a podiatrist to match my foot. I also have a Swedish Knee Brace to stop hyper-extension of my right knee. The Swedish Knee Brace I had to source from the USA because I couldn't get it in Australia. It does not support the knee but is good at preventing the knee flicking back to a locked position. There does not seem to be many physios that know about the Swedish Knee Brace; but a good thing about it that, because I only have one hand now, it is easy to put on with one hand.
Good luck,
Norm
