Thank you for reaching out to Ask a Health Professional, your question has come to our Strokeline team.

We do know that post-stroke fatigue is common although the exact cause remains unknown. Fatigue can have an immense impact on a stroke survivor’s ability to return to meaningful roles (e.g., work) like you have described in your own experience. Similarly, dizziness can be common after stroke, and it can mean different things to different people. Some survivors of stroke say they feel ‘light-headed’, others may say they feel ‘unsteady’ or like the room is spinning.

In Australia, we follow the Living Clinical Guidelines for stroke management. There is a brief reference in the Guidelines about the use of blue light therapy to treat fatigue in acute stroke, however the research evidence we currently have is limited and does not address chronic fatigue such as in your case. Therefore, this intervention isn't something we can recommend at this stage. If you haven't already, you might consider consulting directly with a Neurologist about blue light therapy, whether its application might differ in other parts of the world.

With that said, I would highly recommend seeing an occupational therapist for tailored advice around managing chronic fatigue and gradual return to work, and seeing a vestibular physiotherapist about your persistent dizziness.
