Hi Heather, thanks for reaching out to the EnableMe Community.
A Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is often only identified after a TIA or stroke, with PFO closure offered for secondary prevention.
Recovery time after every operation is dependent on a lot of factors, including age and general health. Your cardiologist/heart specialist would have a good idea of your personal recovery time post PFO surgery, as it is very individualised.
There are likely to be other EnableMe community members who have had a PFO closure and may be able to comment on their personal experience. If you would like to discuss this further, please call our Health Professionals at StrokeLine on 1800 787 653.
