Hello Robyn,
Thank you for reaching out on EnableMe. I am sorry to hear of your stroke during the birth of your son. Hopefully you are doing well and managing taking care of your little one and continuing to recover.
Stroke can certainly happen prior to, during and after childbirth, and EnableMe is a great way of finding others who have been in a similar situation. Just by reaching out, other members of the community will be able to see your question and respond if they have experienced something similar. This is such an important topic to raise. Your post will hopefully start the conversation and give you connections with others who have been through something similar.
The other place you might find others who have experienced a similar situation is the Genyus Network. This is a trauma survivors network that helps connect those who have experienced a trauma such as a stroke and brain injury. There are many stroke survivors who are part of the network, so you might find someone with similar lived experience there too.
Hopefully others will reach out to join this conversation.
If you have any questions, or would like to talk about your experience Robyn, please don’t hesitate to reach out to StrokeLine. You can call StrokeLine on Ph 1800 787 653, or email us on strokeline@strokefoundation.org.au. We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm AEST.
Warm regards
Siobhan (StrokeLine)
