Hello,
We are sorry to hear about your daughter's aneurysm and headaches. It is best to get an urgent review from the GP or your daughter's medical specialist, particularly based on her past medical history and having a shunt. You are right, a number of things can cause headaches, some of which you mention.
Intracranial pressure is the rise of pressure inside the skull. Certainly changes in the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord) can lead to a rise in the intracranial pressure and this could present with headache. A VP shunt when working, relieves the pressure on the brain caused by fluid accumulation. We highly suggest seeking medical attention as soon as possible to investigate and help you find answers. If there is any deterioration in your daughter's condition please call 000 immediately.
If you have any further questions or wish to discuss you can call us on StrokeLine 1800 787 653 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
Best wishes,
