How do I care for my brother who is interstate?

My brother is in his 6th week post stroke rehabilitation. He is 53, single, employed and lives independently in his own home. I am his sister and next of kin. Our problem is he lives in Melbourne and I live in Adelaide. How am I going to manage this situation.

I’m sorry to hear about your brother’s stroke. Has he returned home?

 

Depending on the nature of the difficulties he experiences, there are range of supports available for you both. A case manager, for instance, may be able to support him ‘on the ground’. The emotional support and encouragement you would provide over the phone would also be invaluable.
