Please guide me with some information on how to improve breathing after a stroke.

I’m so sorry to hear of your mum’s stroke – this must be an incredibly difficult time for you and your family.

Everyone’s recovery is different after a stroke and there can be many different reasons why someone might require ventilator support.

It’s important you speak with the medical team to gain a clear picture as to what is affecting your mum’s ability to wean from the ventilator.

If you are having difficulty speaking with the medical team and having your concerns heard, you could speak with the nurse unit manager. It may also be helpful to ask to speak with a social worker on the unit – it’s important to have someone in the treating team to talk to for support.
