Hi anon, I had a quite bad stroke 12yrs ago & had a subluxation of my right arm. I was in hospital/rehab for 3 months & underwent much therapy which continued daily for a year or more after discharge. I am classed as highly functioning but with non functional arm & leg. My sublax gap seemed to "repair" with the exercises done but they must continue or discomfort returns. I have been able to find both OT's & physios in my area that are keen to help me vary my exercises or just encourage me. Good luck, Julie.
Try to target just the supraspinatus muscle. You can have an OT integrate an active-assistive technique/motion to contract it with a neuromuscular electrical stimulation to provide some input so he knows exactly what he needs to contract.
