Hi Janette,
The sensation changes you’ve described are common following a stroke. These can improve over time, however recovery is very individual. Treatment can involve sensory retraining which increases the brain’s awareness of sensations by exposing your skin to different sorts of sensory inputs. I suggest seeing an occupational therapist and physiotherapist who are familiar with sensory retraining to tailor a treatment plan based on your needs.
You also mention you have pain on your left side. Whilst this also can occur after stroke, I would recommend asking your GP to refer you to a pain clinic to further assess. It’s important to find out the cause of the pain so that the right treatment is arranged.
