Hi there,
We recommend that all stroke survivors keep in regular contact with their GP.
It’s your GP’s job to monitor your health. This includes checking your blood pressure, reviewing your medication, and assessing your lifestyle and medical stroke risk factors.
If you notice a change in your level of function, for example, your walking has deteriorated, your GP may want to refer you back to a rehabilitation physician or a neurologist.
The Post-Stroke Checklist (PSC) is a tool that can help you talk to your doctor. It highlights areas of difficulty and/or change, and can assist your doctor is making the right referral.
If you would like to discuss anything further don’t hesitate to call us on StrokeLine on 1800 787 653 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
Best wishes,
Alana (Speech Pathologist for StrokeLine)
