Thank-you for reaching out to us. It sounds like you have the best intentions in mind to help your dad make the most of his recovery following his stroke.
Facilitating recovery after stroke can often feel overwhelming particularly knowing where to start. Getting information and having better knowledge is a great place to start. Well done on seeking to understand stroke recovery! I have included some links below that may help to navigate the stroke journey and where to get help. It will be worthwhile for you to sit down as a family, perhaps also with a health professional eg. your local doctor or physiotherapist to discuss how the stroke has affected your dad and set some goals on what you might like to achieve. Have a chat to the local doctor about where you can access allied health services at home that may help to guide you with achieving your goals. A physiotherapist or physical therapist can assess your dad’s current level of function and provide you and your family exercises that can help to facilitate physical recovery.
