Feasibility and effects of novel light therapy in individuals with neurological conditions (stroke)

Fatigue is common in stroke survivors and negatively impacts quality of life.

Researchers from Edith Cowan University are evaluating the benefits of light therapy glasses for stroke survivors experiencing fatigue and sleep issues. This trial can be delivered remotely for people around Australia, including those living in regional and remote areas.

Participants will be randomly allocated to receive light therapy glasses via post as well as sleep health guidelines, or sleep health guidelines alone, for a 4-week trial period. Following the trial, participants allocated to receive sleep health guidelines alone will be given the opportunity to trial the light therapy glasses for four weeks.

Participants will also be asked to complete questionnaires and wear an activity monitor to evaluate fatigue, sleep health, mood and quality of life:

  • prior to starting the trial
  • immediately following the 4-week trial period
  • four weeks following the trial period.
