Summary
Regular physical activity is important for stroke recovery and reducing chances of another stroke.
It also keeps you healthy and strong!
Researchers from the University of Melbourne are looking for survivors of stroke to participate in a personalised physical activity program.
This study aims to find out how long you need to be active for each week (activity duration) and how hard you have to work while active (activity intensity) to be beneficial for your health.
Eligibility
- be over the age of 18 years,
- AND have had a stroke within the past 6 months
- AND able to walk with or without a gait aid.
Activity
- Health professionals will help set up participants with a personalised physical activity program over two in-person sessions (in Victoria), and continue to provide support over 6 months.
- This support can be provided in person, over the phone, via video-conference, email or text – whichever suits you best!
- You will be provided a Fitbit device to monitor and help support your physical activity.
- You will participate in 3 assessment sessions over this time.
