Dear Mw,

I understand how you feel.  I had a major stroke 4 years ago.  I still remember wanting to be able to sit by myself, wanting to be able to walk one step on my own was my goal even when the neurologist told me that I was never going to be able to walk again.   Keep up with the rehab. exercise and never give up.  You can do it.  I am now back to work and  able to walk 10,000 steps a day with little difficulty.  I am sure that you will soon be walking again.  Keep working at it, pray to whatever God you worship, and never, ever give up.

It is always work once you've had a stroke, the energy level is sometimes low so rest when your body says so, stretching is very important, after a  stroke all elasticity is lessened and muscles tissues have been used to recover. Once you are able to regain control of muscle function in a slight way it is important keep up the exercises . Hand coordination with fingers movement, ankle rotation and knee flexing.

A good approach is with low impact stretching and low impact step exercises . EX. use a small bench to raise you leg as if climbing a step, each leg at a time , repeat every day . Squeeze and catch a soft sponge for motor skill and write the alphabet on a sheet of paper to regain control of your writing. Knees that once gave problems are accentuated by a stroke, a support and tylenol tablets help to maintain exercises where there is some arthritic issues. But all exercise must be low impact , slow an gradual like Ti-Chee for example.

Wish you all the best in your recovery , the brain is very plastic and relearns in time .

Thanks for commenting Serge, when did you have your stroke?
