Hi Judy,
Here are some comments from the Facebook community for you. I hope that they help.

Have a chat with your rehab team about some Botox injections into your hand - to make it easier to clean and stretch.
NeuroActive Rehabilitation
Hi Judy, Have you tried Electrical Stimulation? That can get the muscles that open the hand to turn on and the flexors to relax a bit. Have a chat to your physio to see if it is an option. Good luck.

Can you unclench at all ? If so sitting on something softish sit with your hand under your thigh for @ 10 min when when you can ( use the other hand as a comparison marker ) .
Often the shoulder needs work first ?? ,,
Have you discussed Baclofen ? ( don't be put off by initial body response ..to it - took me @ 2/3 weeks to settle with it - and for me personally it was a complete game changer )
Get professional assessment for botox - it can prevent progress - as well as help.

Try an acupuncture mat/pillow. It also helps with sensation/feeling. Stretch it out on it and apply pressure
Maree Scale
Heat a wheat bag. Stretch fingers onto a hard cover book then put wheat bag on back of hand. Eventually the muscles will relax with the warmth and straighten more. You can do this every day/night watching tv. Hope that helps.

If not already - Music Therapy! I'd never heard of it before for stroke recovery until after my stroke at 28. I just found working with music very therapeutic and healing during a difficult time physically and emotionally.
I worked with Katerini and got control of my left hand back. It took alot alot of work and I practiced exercises in my own time.
Just focus on the small victories during the process and don't set yourself a deadline just be kind to yourself ❤️ included my Music Therapist details. Good luck!
