Hi Barbara,
Here are some comments of encouragement from the Facebook community for you.
Julie: You'll be okay Barbara, take it one letterbox at a time, dont push it. Somedays I made it around the block and the next day I couldnt get to my letterbox but eventually it improved. In the shops the noise still overwhelms me and affects my concentration but has improved, I cant browse yet, just in and out for what I need. Practice practice practice :)
Ursula: I had 2strokes a few years ago. I can walk with a stick slowly but get pain in my foot after a while because of curled down toes. My goal has been to walk around the block( about 1 km). It has been a very slow progress, but I can do it now since a few months. Takes me about 45 minutes. I am very happy that I reached my goal. My next goal is improving my speed.Very good practice for me was just going to one shop at a time and walk around in there. After some months I could do 2 shops. My exercise bike& Crosstrainer are also important for me for strengthening my muscles. I am on them nearly every day, but I never put pressure on myself but only do as much as I feel confident and comfortable. I wish you all the best. You will improve , slowly but surely.
Laine: U can do this Barbara!! Celebrate every little step & listen to ur body - if it needs a rest ... just rest & keep tackling it after a mini rest. Sending u love as u ✅ this goal off your list x
Colin: Just go at it sensibly and be proud of what you achieve, and when you have a struggle day, try not to let it bother you every day will be different, good luck and believe in yourself.
Will: You can do it!! Stick with it. My wife started me on click and collect when she realised I was getting disoriented in the isles just getting a few items. ( not sure disoriented is the correct way to explain it, micro sleep might be better ) This has gotten better. A solo full shop is still a little way off. Try not to over do it !! Fatigue is not our friend.
Steve: NEVER give up! and small steps add to the total distance! A little regularly will increase your endurance!
Brian Arthur Beh: Barbara NEVER give up- start with short distances to the mail box, build your strength...celebrate your achievements' however small. then build on them you will succeed!
Lynda: i am slow too it is not about speed just get there at your pace 🌺
