Hi jay jay,
How are you going with your goal? Managing your emotions after stroke can be really tough. Here is some advice from the community, I hope that it helps:

Time & patience … & there’s always someone worse off than you. Be grateful for the positive things🌻

It sounds like your grieving what you lost of yourself, hope that makes sense. Talk to a counsellor or seek help🌷. Good luck

I withdrew into myself. Didn’t want to be seen or heard. I eventually came to realise that I was alive and still have a life to live. I came to learn my limitations and I slowly came out of my shell and now laugh at myself when my “Becky” side comes out (my daughter named me Becky from Finding Dory, there is a close similarity there lol. ) My family and close friends understand the new me, they still love me. Time always helps. Stay strong.

My perception and tolerance of people is a lot less than it used to be 12 years ago . It took years for people and myself to accept the new me but with lots of immediate family support and encouragement we got there. It’s the new me (take it or leave it).I need to still check myself at times and find a filter before I voice my opinion.

Counseling its been 2 years but i am still very impatient good luck it gets better

After 2 years of counseling, I realised I had to be kinder to myself and learn not to expect the exact same as I was pre stroke. When I get tired, my speech still goes after 5 years. That is the gentle reminder to accept the new me and to slow down, reflect on how far I have come rather than beat myself up. Good luck, time will help ❤️
