Hi Ric
We are sorry to hear about your ongoing issues with numbness and tingling sensations.
It sounds like it must be very uncomfortable for you.
Hopefully you have engaged with your GP or Neurologist about your symptoms, and they are working through a management plan with you. It sounds like you have tried a few treatment modalities already.
You may wish to consider speaking to your GP about connecting with an Occupational Therapist
We do know that sense therapy could be helpful as well as sensory re-education; however, it is always best to discuss these therapies further with your treating allied health therapist and doctor to see if they are the right fit for you.
If your symptoms of numbness are related to nerve pain, it may be worth speaking to your GP about a referral to a Specialist Pain management program that involves multidisciplinary input.
Nerve pain is a specific type of pain experienced as burning, shooting, electric shocks, cold, pins and needles, and numbness.
Pain management services are often very holistic and offer-
- education to help you understand your pain and strategies to help you manage your pain.
- specific pain medications
- specialised procedures that may help your pain
- Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy using activity modification to reduce physical factors making pain worse.
- behavioural and cognitive treatments to reduce the effect of chronic pain.
